Thanks for posting a response to my email.Sorry this reply is late coming (my cpu has been out of commission for more than two months!).I am very happy to find a distant cousin of this Morgan/Norris family.I don't know a whole lot about the Norris line, but Neomia "Omie" M. Morgan was a half sister to one of my ancestors and I'm very happy to find any of her descendants.Albert Sidney had a sister Pairlee who married a Merryman and I am in touch with some of their descendants, but I've never talked with any one who was a descendant of Albert Sidney.
Your great-grandpa was on the 1880 census in Lee County, MS.
1880 Lee County, Mississippi Census 5th District; Family No. 130/130; page 16 Norris, Edward G. 46 Head Ala. SC SC Farmer Norris, Naomi M. 44 Wife SC Norris, Sidney 6 Son MS Ala. SC Norris, Paralee 5 Dau. MS Ala. SC Hurston, William R. 20 Step-son MS Ga. SC Hurston, Joseph T. 18 Step-son MS Ga. SC One hired hand also I was told that he married Margaret Regina "Maggie" Beene. Those Beenes were a local family too that I have a little more on, but I'm not descended from them. They married in Red Oak, Indian Territory (no date) and that there was where he died in 1907.Was he killed in a coal mine accident?I'd love to hear more about this.I don't have any info about their children, but I have that she died in 1940 in Collin County.Does this sound right?
What kind of information would you like to have?I have more on the Morgans, but I have never seen a photo of Neomia.Have you?I have some of her brothers and sisters though, and have been often to the place where her father is thought to have been buried.I grew up on, and my family still lives on, land very close to that which Neomia's father (Reuben Morgan Jr.) bought when he first moved into Mississippi.
Have you ever heard about Neomia herself?I have that she died "about 1921" in Mena, Arkansas.I don't know anything about her personality or any stories about her, but if anyone in your family remembers her or anything about her at all, I'd really love to hear about it.
Thanks for your time and please keep in touch.I can't wait to hear more about this family! But if you reply with anything about living individuals, maybe you could just email me instead of posting it here.
Thanks again, Dave Webb (from Plantersville, MS, but in school in Columbia, MO now)
