John McMillen (1846-1914), my great great grandfather, is buried in the Stroud Cemetery along with his son Clint McMillen and his grandson Stroud McMillen.
John was the father of Clint McMillen who married Priscilla Stroud, daughter of J.W. Stroud (founder of Stroud).
John's sons Clint and Henry McMillen were among the first settlers of Stroud; they ran a hardware store.Clint died young.Son Henry married another daughter of J. W. Stroud, Alma Stroud.Their son Stroud McMillen died in infancy.
While I've been able to trace the Stroud family, I've had trouble with the McMillen family. Henry and Alma (my great grandparents) eventually moved to and lived their lives in Ponca City, Oklahama.
Henry is likely the person responsible for the three McMillen headstones in the Stroud Cemetery.I'd love to learn more about the father John who is buried there.
Here's what the Stroud Messenger reported on July 31, 1914: Henry McMillen brought his father John McMillen here for burial last Saturday. His father having died at their home in the Osage country the preceding Thursday. The remains were laid along side Clint McMillen, who died in this city several years ago.
What I'd like to know is whether or not there is a death certificate, a record at a funeral home, or a cemetery record that would indicate who John's parents were or confirm where he was born.I'd appreciate any help.
