News has been received in Madill of the drowning in Tangiers harbor, Dec. 8, of THOMAS M. DEWITT. He lived in Madill for several years. Prior to leaving here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. E. DEWITT for their former home in Indiana, he was assistant postmaster under C. S. CANNADY. He was a graduate of Madill high school 1914 class and was a general favorite among the young people. He joined the Navy in 1917 and was an electrician third class attached to U. S. S. Landsdale. The news states that an officer and six men were drowned when their boat capsized when attempting to rejoin the ship after shore leave. Tangiers is a port on the northwest coast of African.
