My gr gr grandfather lived in South Coffeyville in the late 1800s and early 1900s. John Buck Martin, though he went by J. B. Martin his wife was Izora Simpson Martin. they owned a dairy farm. I have been searching for any books about the farming and history there, looking for any photos or stories about the family. A story passed down in the family was that some of the Dalton Gang used to hide in one of their barns. The Martins had a daughter Nancy "Lou" that married a George Gilbert and they lived on a farm next to or very near the Martins. Also, John's mother Nancy Sater Martin probably living with him, died Sept. 11, 1897 (came from Hamlin Skinner funeral home records that I found on Kansas Trails Gen.)Wonder if there would be any records that old, such as death records, probate or newspaper death notice. Any help or suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!
