Looking for information on Edward Whalen who was born between 1823-1830 abt dates in Tipperary County Ireland. He came to the US probably before August 18, 1850. He seems to appear in Massachusetts census in the household of Hannah White at that time..His occcupations range from Labourer, Miller and Miner. He marries Mary McKinley Conners/Conner Fitzgerald in Greene County Missouri in 1874, children are David Edward Whalen 1876 and stepchildren Katie Fitzgerald Woodhouse, James Fitzgerald and Patsy Fitzgerald. He is last seen on a census in 1880 Jasper County Missouri. Family rumours have him deserting his family shortly after 1880 . There is some evidence to suggest this may be true. He dies in Picher Oklahoma on July 4, 1887 and is not buried next to Mary Fitzgerald.Whalen .He may be buried in Oklahoma. He died in a mining diaster and could be on a name list there. Threre is the remote possibility that he may have had a second family as many miners did in that area. So if anyone has an Edward Whalen married to a female relative in any areas mentioned , in that time frame ,please advise. A second family may have more information on this. If you wish to write me privately do so at [email protected]
