To Jan Payne, my family and I thank you very much for the extensive and valuable information that you forwarded.
We are planning a trip out to Sapulpa to visit our family within the next few months, and intend to stop at Maramec to visit the IOOF Cemetery. Would you be able to forward the contact information for the "Caretaker" organization?
I would greatly appreciate any help, if you know of how I can track down the actual birth information of my father, Glenn Daniel Sikes, the son of George Lee Sikes and Emma Lee Wicker, and the grandson of Ambrose Lee Sikes and Nancy Van Powell. In 1941, a birth certificate was created in the State of California which establishes a birth date of Sept 09, 1909, in Mulhall, Logan County, OK., at home. But I have found no trace of the family in Logan County and extensive "footprints" in Pawnee County.
I remember my father telling me that his father was a founder of an oil company by the name of Maramec Oil.It seems that he said that the company must have hit it pretty big and that after his mother died, his father attempted to purchase a mansion (in Guthrie, I believe) but that the Federal Government seized the company's assets. This was the impetus for the family moving to Las Animas County, CO.
I would be interested in any additional information.
