THANK YOU for your super informative e-mail message you sent to me 7 Sep 2005.How very thoughtful of you to do so much research for me.Will you please answer these questions?
1.Are you a Ferris relative? If so, how are you related?
2.Is it possible for me to access online the Mahlon Payne County CemeteryIndex you referred to?If I can, how?
3.I know Samuel Ferris bought land around 1892 near Ripley, Cimarron Township, Payne County, when it was Oklahoma Territory. My grandfather, Robert Ferris, moved his family (including my father age 5) from Kansas to Ripley to farm there with his father, Samuel. Can you give me some advise about how to get a copy of the farm purchase agreement Samuel filled out?He might have bought it from a previous homesteader.I have no idea where the land was located in relation to the town of Ripley.
4.Since the funeral services for both Caroline Ferris and Nettie Ferris were held in a Latter Day Saint Church, does that indicate they were Mormans?
The youngest son of Emma Ferris Dykes (Mrs. John W. Dykes of Stillwater) thought Samuel Ferris was born in or around Halifax, Nova Scotia. So the fact that the article in The Ripley Times said he was born in Kingston (Ontario), Canada gives me a clue regarding where to search for him.I know nothing about his parents or siblings.
Thank you for your helpfulness and for your responding.
