Karen, I also live in the big state of Texas. I do know it is Twin Lakes now, but a number of years ago a man came into out business who called on my husband many years ago selling electronics. He told us he lived in Oklahoma at Twin Lakes. We said we had never heard of it and didn't know where it was located. He explained where it was and it sounded so close to where I grew up, I couldn't understand why I had never heard of it. Later during a phone conversation with my sister who still lives in Shawnee, I mentioned it to her. She laughed at me and told me about "Twin Lakes." The old Shawnee Lake is going dry because there has been so little rain the last few years. It makes me want to cry. My older sister and husband owned Art's Cafe in Shawnee for over forty years. Do you remember it? It was on South Beard. They served home cooked food, delicious homemade pies and loaves of bread. This past summer my sister and I tried to find where our old family home was located. We got close but it was so overgrown with trees and weeds we couldn't walk to the area where the house had been, but recognized many things and knew it was just a few yards away. Thanks for answering my question about the lake.
