Seek information on the Eldridge family and related persons in the cemetery.
Mary Eldridge reportedly m. Enos W. Parsons between 1872-78 and had children, Oscar W. (b. Dec. 1878), Rosetta A. (abt 1880-81) and T. Parsons (b. & d. before 1881), and maybe more children, then Mary died about 1881.Mary was reportedly part Cherokee but Enos was White. However, on the Dawes Roll Oscar is given as 1/16th Cherokee, and his sister Rosetta as 1/32.Enos may have married 2. Ruth E. but not clear who she was; perhaps another Eldridge?Enos' brother Hiran married Sarah E. ?Was she an Eldridge also; they resided adjacent to each other in the Indian Terr. which later became Washington Co., OK.Enos started a post office and named it for his wife "Eldridge P.O."
Enos' third wife was Mary Monfort, with whom he reportedly had six children, three lived, being Mona (b. Dec. 1894), LeRoy 1897 and Melvin, abt 1900.I am researching the Monfort line but with a descendant of Mary Monfort, and another researcher, we have developed a fairly extensive collection of data on the family, but are stymied on the Native American links.
Mary's sister, Mona, m. 2 Return Jack Foreman (abt 1875 to 1941) who was part Native American, Cherokee I think. In fact, his son from a previous marriage listed on census data that his father was "Mixed" and his mother was "Cherokee."
There are a number of intermarriages with Monforts in this area before and after 1900 and it would be helpful to understand the Eldridge, Cox, Anderson, and Foreman links.
