Port was a small commuity that added the school when 3 common schools joined together. The school shut down in the 40's or ealy 50's. I have an early annual from port that my dad had as a 7th grader. My grandfather Graves lived about 1 and a hlf miles from Port. The commmunity had a gin or two and two churches. They built the nice brick Port school, but had to carry water as they could not find water. My Aunt bought it after they closed the school and used it to house chickens. A few years ago, I went by and the place was torn down. I don not think it was a morman community. The annual, the Anchor, was published in 1927. The Sentinel Library has some old Port Annuals, I think. I did not see any Loomis in the top four grades.
