A Daniel J. McDonald family is listed in the 1900 Woods Co., OK Terr. Federal Census, Fairview Twp P 5 (154A) ED 225 DN 54-56 FN 54-56; Daniel (whom I believe to be Daniel Joseph is 38 (Oct 1861) IA IL IL Farmer,Married 2 Yrs. His wife is Tena (short for Christina). They have one child, Willie (William) H. McDonald whom I believe died between 1900 and 1910. I suspect Willie's middle name is H for Hein, which I also believe is Tena's maiden name.
Tena, who was born in Russia but of German descent, was previously married to a SCHWALK, and her Schwalk brother -in-law's family (Charles Schwalk) is living in Cleo Twp.
My problem is that in 1910, and 1920, Tena is listed as a widow and is living back in Marion County, Kansas, and she is listed as having born 7 children with 6 currently living.I can account for all of her 6 living children, but Willie is not listed in 1910, so I am convinced that he died between 1900 and 1910.If her husband also died during that period, and I don't believe he did (regardless of the census record), I suspect both the husband and boy would have died and been buried in Woods County. I also believe that she moved her family back to Marion County, Kansas after her husband and child died, or after her husband divorced her and her child died.
The reason I suspect she was not a widow is that in the 1930 census, she is listed as divorced, and I found a matching Daniel J. McDonald, of the correct age, and states of birth for himself and parents, and living closed to his mother and sister, and he is also listed as divorced.
In order to try and solve this mystery, I am hoping someone on this list would be able to check to see if there is a Willie or William H. McDonald, born about Nov of 1899 (according to 1900 Census record) buried in Woods County, and perhaps buried with his father, Daniel Joseph McDonald or Joseph Daniel McDonald.
Or, if there is no death record for Daniel, perhaps there is a record of a divorce between Daniel Joseph McDonald and Christina McDonald.
I realize this is a longwinded request, but I thought all of the information necessary to lay out why I suspect a divorce for Daniel and not a death.Thank you very much.
