A Mass of Christian Burial for Edwin R. Schell, a resident of Canby, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Portland. Interment will be in St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Canby.

Mr. Schell died Sunday in an Oregon City hospital of cancer. He was 79.

He was born Sept. 21, 1911, in Chicago. Mr. Schell married Elsie G. Amlin on Sept. 23, 1936, in Cicero, Ill. He worked as an agent for The Prudential Insurance Co. of America in Chicago before transferring to Canby in 1967, where he worked until his retirement.

Survivors besides his wife include his sons, Dennis W. and Michael T.; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-children.

Elsie Gladys Schell, 80, a former Canby resident, died of causes related to age Tuesday in her home in Sagle, Idaho. A service will be held Thursday in Post Falls, Idaho, with graveside services at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Patrick's Cemetery near Canby.

Mrs. Schell was born on July 21, 1912, in Cook County, Ill. Her maiden name was Amlin. She married Edwin H. Schell on Sept. 12, 1936, in Cicero, Ill., and they moved to Canby in 1967.

Mr. Schell died in August 1991. After his death, Mrs. Schell moved to Sagle, where family members lived. She was a member of the Roman Catholic Church in Post Falls, Idaho.

She is survived by sons, Dennis of Medical Lake, Wash., and Mike of Sagle; a sister, Sally Hausman of California; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
