In the book "Pioneers and Incidents of the Upper Coquille Valley" by Alice H. Wooldridge (1971) on page 132 is a reprint from the newspaper Southern Coos County American for 20 December 1923: "D.P. Strang passed away at his home in Coquille, Dec. 14, 1923.He was born on Prince Edward's Island, Canada, Sept. 1, 1834, being 89 years 3 months and 13 days old.Came to the United States as an infant.Served in the Civil War. -- Coquille Notes"
In the book "Pioneer History of Coos and Curry Counties, Or." by Orvil Dodge (1898) in the Biographical Appendix (paginated separately) on page 90: "STRANG, ROBERT M., was born at Prince Edward Island, Feb. 15, 1836, and came to Coos Co., Or., July, 1868, and settled three miles from Coquille City.His wife's maiden name was Evaline Collier, born in Iowa, Buchanan Co., Feb. 6, 1846, and their children are Chas. E., born Nov. 13, 1864; Ida J., March 10, 1867; Huldah A., Feb. 24, 1869; David H., April 22, 1871; Frederick, May 14, 1873; Franklin (deceased), Oct. 9, 1876; Sarah A., Nov. 12, 1878; Geo. L., Aug. 23, 1883.He is a carpenter by trade, but has followed farming since he came to this county."
