Sandy, Thanks for looking for the obit and your reply. I am surprised it was not in the newspaper. I can think of only three reasons for no obituary.
1. It may be that the Medford paper would not have obituaries for Ashland during that time.
2. In his last days he may have stayed with one of his children in the Portland area and the obit was not printed in the Ashland newspaper. George is buried in the Ashland Cemetery with his second wife, May (Lamb) Anderson. May died in Ashland on Jan 18, 1908. This is unlikely since he had a daughter, Jean (Anderson) Byers, still living in Ashland and taking care of George's sister (Sarah (Anderson) Blair at the time of Sarah death on Aug 28, 1932.
3. The year of his death may be 1928 or 1929. I got the 1927 date of death from a genealogy book printed around 1954 and have no reason to believe it is incorrect. I have a letter written by a sister or daughter confirming "May 7" as the month and day of his death but the letter was not dated therefore I have only one source for the year he died. I have letters showing George was living in Ashland as early as 1906 and the last letter was dated November 1926. I do not have a date when Jean died and don't think any obituary info for Sarah will help me find George's grandchildren.
