Friends of Edward Bailey were shocked to learn of his death early Wednesday morning at his home at Junction City., Ore. He has been in excellent health and was in town late Tuesday evening.Early Wednesday morning he was taken ill with his heart and before medical assistance could be summoned had passed away. Edward Bailey, aged 64 years, 11 months and 24 days was born in Portland, Ore. December 17, 1862.He was the son of George Bailey, who crossed the plains in 1852 with an ox tear, and was known by many of the older residents. At the age of one year Mr. Bailey moved with his parents to the home place where he lived until his death.During his entire life he was active in the civil affairs of the community and made hosts of friends throughout the state.He was very successful in farming and other business activities, but had retired several years ago. In 1894 he was married to Mary String of Junction City.To this union were born six children: Clifford Bailey of Junction City, Mrs. W.A. Everett of Seattle, Wash., Mrs. J. R. Highs, George and Laird Bailey of Junction City and Gerald Bailey who is in U.S.N. hospital at San Diego, Cal.All of whom survive him. The funeral services will be held in the First Methodist church at 1:30pm Sunday, November 27, at Junction City.The Benevolent Protective Order of Elks No. 357, of which he was a member, will have complete charge of the services.
