Funeral services were held at Millers’ chapel Tuesday afternoon for John Kirk, who passed away in a Portland hospital Friday evening Dec. 23, Rev. Downs of Portland conducted the services.Interment was made in the IOOF cemetery beside his parents. John W. Kirk was born in Kirksville, Mo.March 26, 1862, and was aged 65 years, 8 months and 27 days. His parents came to Oregon when he was three years old and settled near this city.He grew to manhood and learned the barber trade which he followed until a few years ago. He was married to Miss Anna Clow and three children were born to this union. Mr. Kirk owned his home on Holly street and lived there until last March, when he had a light stroke of paralysis.His daughter took him to her home in Portland and cared for him there with the help of a nurse until a few days before he passed away when he was taken to the hospital. Mr. Kirk leaves many friends here among the old timers, who have missed him, as he was a great hand to come up town and visit with every one.He leaves two daughters, Mrs. Ethel Schlingman of Portland and Miss Arda Kirk of Seattle, one son Lloyd of Portland, a granddaughter and a brother, George Kirk of near Noti.
