Mrs. Peter Rickard died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. A.L. Coon, of St. Johns, on October 10, 1909, at 4 o’clock pm at the age of 63 years, 4 [look like] months and 5 days. On lung trouble. Ellen Collins was born in Dubois county, Indiana, June 5, 1846 [looks like].She moved to Pike county January 23, 1864.She was united in marriage to Peter Rickard, to this union was born six children, three of whom survive her. She leaves a husband, three children and a sister to mourn her loss, Mrs. Oscar Golden of Junction City, Henry Rickard of La Grande, Mrs. A.L. Coon of St. Johns, and a sister, Mrs. W.H. Ivy of Evansville, Ind. In the year 1887 they came to Oregon and located near Junction City, where they resided until recently. Mrs. Rickard has been in ill health for many years.Thinking the change would do her good, about two months ago she went to visit her daughter who lies at St. Johns. She became a member of the church when but a young girl and has lived a constant Christian life. Funeral services were held at the Monroe cemetery Wednesday, October 13th, at 11 o’clock in the forenoon, by Rev. Malbeck, where the remains were laid at rest.
