Charles Wiltse Of Springfield Dies
Springfield, Nov. 7 Charles Wiltse, long - time resident of Lane County, died at the Eugene hospital Saturday afternoon. He as born in Chatfield, Minn., March 7, 1850, and was married to Clara C. York in 1871. Shortly after, they moved to Devils Lake, N.D., and in 1876 they came to Oregon, settling near Lorane. In 1887 Mrs. Wiltse died. Children from the marriage include Mrs. Eva Debillard, Mrs. Clara Hannon, both of North Dakota; Mrs. Delia Temple, California; Mrs. Orilla Wensley of Portland and Charles Wiltse, Jr. of Marcola.
In 1891 Wiltse remarried to May Stoopes in Eugene. Since that time, with the exception of one year in Seattle, they have lived in Lane county, coming to Springfield 10 years ago. Besides Mrs. Wiltse, survivors include Wilbur of Vaughn, Guy of Ryderwood, Wash.; Alpha of Wendling, Carl of Springfield, and Glenn of Vaughn; 17 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He was a member of the Springfield Christian church.
Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 11o’clock at the Phil Bartholomew chapel, Rev. Norman Woodman of Marcola officiating. Interment will be in Laurel Hill cemetery.
