This is one of my brickwalls, Catherine Reese/Rees/Reus. The last name has been seen all those spellings. The earliest 'proof' record I have found for her is the 1870 Federal Census for Penn, Cass, Michigan. She is there with her husband, Jacob M Flury/Fluri and three children: Henry 5, Emma 3 and Almeda 1. There is also her brother Jonathon Reese (spelled this way this time).I have several other census forms and other reecords on her up till her deathat Torrington, Goshen, Wyoming on December 31, 1942. The problem is her life from birth to marriage. In her obit (I have a copy) it says she was born in Snyder County Pennsylvania on March 24, 1845. Prblem onne...Snyder did not start unrtil 1850. It furher states that she left Pennsylvani and moved to Indiana (probably Elkhart County) with her foster parents when she was 17 (1861-3). She lived therre a few years and then met her future husband Jacob Flury. Her obit goes onto say that Catherine and Jacob married in Elkhart county and lived there long enough for there fist child to be born. Then they moved to Cass Count Nichigan. They lived there sdeveral years, then after three of their daughters died, either from diptheria and/or thyphoid fever, they moved to Buffalo county Nebraska in spring 1889. Problem 2.... Henry, who has always been considered their first born, has always listed Michigan has his birthplace. There has never been anything found to prove her birth in Pennsylvania. Lots of interresting possible supporting documents but nothing solid. I used to have an Ancestry membership and searched their 1850 and 1860 census's, nothing at asll found for any version of Rees in Snyder on Union counties.I could go the routeof ordering her petion application and approval from the government but the $75 fee is a bit higfh for someone on disability. Any ideas on how I can find info on her?
