Joseph R. Kovish , 64, of Emmaus died Friday, Feb. 6, in the home of his daughter, Kimberlee A., wife of Daniel Hall of Emmaus. He was the husband of Patricia M. (Webber) Kovish . They were married for 40 years in September.
He worked for the Stroh Brewery Co., Fogelsville, for more than 26 years before retiring as a production line worker. Previously, he worked for the former Purolator Co., Allentown.
He played Santa Claus as a representative of Stroh Brewery at various Lehigh Valley locations, including Cedarbrook.
Born in Emmaus, he was a son of the late John S. and Mary Elizabeth (Palencar) Kovish .
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Emmaus.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Local 12, Allentown, and the Mercantile Club, Emmaus, and a life member of Emmaus Fire Company No. 1.
A volunteer driver for Meals on Wheels for many years, he also helped on various state and local political campaigns and won several local golf tournaments.
Survivors: Wife and daughter; sister, Marie Cope of Emmaus; and brothers, George and Martin, both of Emmaus, and Thomas of Bayonne, N.J., and two grandchildren.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the church. Call 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home, 225 Elm St., Emmaus, and 10-10:30 a.m. Wednesday at church.
