I am looking for any information on Towsons who may have lived in the Pennsylvania counties of Dauphin and Allegheny in the late 1800s and early 1900s. I have records of my ancestors living in Harrisburg City of Dauphin County, as well as Penn and Oakmont in Allegheny County, and New Kensington. I know that my great-great grand uncle Charles W Towson was married in Jochril, Dauphin, on June 7th 1893 to Susanna Eckerd, daughter of William H. Eckerd. Charles W's father, Charles Towson, was living in Harrisburg City in 1900, according to the 1900 Federal Census.
I believe the family may have arrived in Pennsylvania in 1885. I know that one of the sons was living in "Dauphin, Harrisburg" as late at 1911, but I know that my direct ancestor was no longer living in the state at that time.
The whole family was: Charles Towson (1839-1919, Union Civil War vet) and his wife, Frances E, and their children, Charles W b. 1870 (married Susanna/Sue Eckerd 1893) Mary b. 1872 Edward C b. 1876 (married Agnes F, living in Dauphin 1910) Sarah b. 1877 Harry b. 1880 Thomas Walton (1881-1946) George Henry (1885-1964) May E (1889 to around 1980ish)
I also have reason to believe that they may have lived in "the Warner Camps in Harmarville (across the river from Oakmont) and up on Rich Hill Road (off Rt 910) above Harmarville" around Oakmont, PA.
If you have any information that you think may help me, or if you believe that you may be related to any of the people mentioned, please contact me! I have a whole wealth of information about the family, but have so much more to learn.
