You were looking for parents of Dunns in Abbeville County, South Carolina.I believe those Dunns came from Monaghan County, Ireland.I read this on genealogy.com Dunn forum a couple of years ago.Since then my computer crashed.I believe a Dunn or Dunns left Co. Monaghan and went to South Carolina was the gist of that info.
Consequently, a Miss Dunn who married James Harrison (b. 1730s, d. 1796) was able to obtain for him a lease on Church Hill. Was this because there was no male Dunn left in Co. Monaghan to inherit?(Harrison speculation.)
I am GUESSING that the Dunns COULD HAVE BEEN part of the Cahans Exodus from the Ballybay Church, also County MOnaghan.the [entire] congregation followed its minister, Rev. Clark, form Ballybay to NYC, where the group broke into two pieces: (1) Abbeville, South Carolina (2) Salem, New York. Were your Dunns Presbyterian? So were my Harrisons and Monaghans.I am trying to find Monaghans in SC.
