Hi, I see no one has found the obit. That's too bad. I guess there are two ways to get a copy:
1. A very LOCAL volunteer will go to the Minnehaha County archives and look up the obit on microfilm.
2. A volunteer with access to an ONLINE OBITUARY DATABASE will look it up for you. The ones I know of are by subscription only (= costs money).
Sadly I am neither, but maybe it you focus on each of these goals separatly, it might help. For example, make a post that says
"Looking for a Volunteer in SIOUX FALLS"
"Looking for a Volunteer with Access to FOLD3 or other Online OBITS"
I checked with Google and there are genealogy and family history organizations for Sioux Falls, Minnehaha, South Dakota, so ask for your LOCAL help on their websites.
By the way, the "Minnehaha area" = Minnehaha County. Her obit would be published in Sioux Falls in Minnehaha County, because that is where she lived. So even if she died out of town, the Sioux Falls paper would still be the place for her obit.
Christina lived in Sioux Falls, Minnehaha, South Dakota in 1940.
1940 US Census Sioux Falls, Minnehaha, South Dakota, USA 424 S1 Avenue Christina Andrews, 67, born about 1873 in Illinois, widowed Pearl Andrews, 39,single, born about 1901 in South Dakota, teacher at the city high school In 1935 both Christina and Pearl lived in “Same Place,” i.e., in Sioux Falls.
Pearl is probably be Pearl Beatrice Andrews.
At Woodlawn Cemetery in Sioux Falls, Minnehaha, South Dakota, is an ANDREWS family grave marker. I don’t know if this is Christina’s marker. A photo of the gravestone was submitted by a person whose email is here: http://southdakotagravestones.org/view.php?id=55084http://southdakotagravestones.org/view.php?id=55084
Another FREE resource for obituaries is Find-a-Grave.Definitely one to keep in mine as you do US searches. However, I checked, and there is no memorial for Chistina Andrews. All the memorials are created by volunteers. Anyone can volunteer.
Sorry I didn't find the obit myself. Hope you do!!
