Hi Boston Pilot "Missing Persons" column dated Oct 3, 1866, Patrick Mannix's brother William was seeking information of the whereabouts of Patrick and his brother Luke Mannix. Patrick's home county was given as Cork IRL, parish Brigown and townland Pollardstown, barony of Condon & Clangibbon in the Poor-law town of Mitchelstown. His location after arrival to the US was given as 60 miles from Memphis TN. I've recently found an entry for U.S., Confederate Soldiers Compiled Service Records, 1861-1865 TN 2nd Infantry Regiment (Walker's)Company K Name: Patrick Mannix Birth Date: abt 1833 Age: 28 Enlistment Date: 1861
Since Luke also enlisted, I'm thinking perhaps William was trying to locate his brothers after the war. Patrick doesn't seem to appear on later census records and I'm now thinking he may have died in the war. I'm descended from their sister Ellen who emigrated to Australia with her parents and two other brothers. Any advices welcome. Regards Viv Any advices welcome.
