"Standing Stone, Tenn. Monterey Early History,” was written by the late John Roy Dillard
I'm looking to see if anyone has a copy of this book.
I'm interested in learning where the original location of The Standing Stone was.
In researching, over the Internet, it's possible original location was in near the town once known as "Standing Stone", now known as Monterey, TN.
It was located not far from the town of McMinnville, TN.
I know the actual Stone was once in the shape of a Bear, then was intentionally changed, by the Cherokee, to the shape of a Dog. The actual remaining stone, was destroyed by the Railroad company to make room for the railroad. There were two remnants left, one of which was taken to the town of Monterey, TN, where "The Standing Stone Monument" stands today.
My Cherokee Ancestors escaped the "Trail of Tears" by hiding out in caves near "The Standing Stone", and settled in Overton & then Clay Counties, in Tennessee.
In order to narrow down, the possible location of the caves, they hid out in, I have to know the original location, of the "Standing Stone".
Thank you, for your time, consideration, and cooperation, I truly appreciate it
