I am researching the family of the Rev. John J. Brooks, b. 1810 in Ireland d. 1880 in Jackson, Madison, Tenn. He and his first wife, Adeline Wilson, had a son named John Thomas Brooks. He was born in Tennessee sometime after their 1841 marriage. The only documentation I have on John Thomas is the 1850 Federal Census, which lists him living with his father and his second wife, Sarah Acton. By the 1860 census, John Thomas is no longer listed with the John J. Brooks family.
John Thomas is listed in a Burke's American Families With British Ancestry. It says this: John Thomas, Capt., CSA; k. at Battle of Murfreesboro, Tenn.
I can't find anything about John Thomas Brooks' Civil War service record, his death or burial. Can anyone help with this?
