When both parties (the 3 sons that got property, etc. and the rest of the heirs who didn't), hired their respective attorneys, they had to pay a price, for their attorney's services.
For example:Henry, Hiram, & Matthew Arney hired Pleasant M Armstrong to represent them.IF they won their case, they agreed to pay their attorney, 1/2 of all their father's property, etc.
(Seems a steep price to me)
As far as I know, Peter Arney couldn't write, not sure whether he could read or not.Most items found have his name: Peter X (mark) Arney.The X was his mark, if you know what I mean.
