Here is a possible link between your family and mine.My gggrandfather was Rainey (Rene) Fitzpatrick Jones (b. June 24, 1838,in Alabama,d. March 3, 1896)He married Sarah Ellen Bailey (b. April 10, 1844, Carondelet Township, St. Louis, MO, d. December 30, 1925)They married on October 28, 1860.Their children were (1) Felix Grundy, b. 1861; (2) Thurza Jones, b. 1862, m. 1877 to Lewis Cass Smith; (3) Zoommer (?) Jones, b. 1865; (4) Henry Jones, b. 1866; (5) Rainey Petway Jones,(my ggrandfather) b. 1870, m. December 6, 1891 to Angela Reta Hemsell, d. October 4, 1935; and (6) Fannie Jones, b. 1873.
Rainey (Rene) F. Jones' father was born in Virginia and his mother was born in Georgia.Unfortunately, we do not know their names.Sarah Ellen Bailey's father was James H. Bailey.
My ggrandfather's name appears in several documents spelled as Rainey, Rene, and R.F.We have been told that Sarah Ellen Bailey married her son-in-law's older brother (Smith) after R.F. died.
All of the above lived in Delta and Hunt counties.
There are some conflicts with dates but there appears to be a great amount of ties which go beyond pure coincidence.
Incidentially, I vaguely recall being told by one of my grandparents that we were kin to some Birdsongs.
I look forward to hearing from you.We do have provenance on a great deal of this information.
