My Vance ancestors lived in Millican and in the Navasota area, both in Brazos County, Texas, from around the 1850's and many are buried there in the Wheat Cemetery in Millican, up to at least 1982.
I can go no further back than Elihu Vance who was born in 1802 in Laurens County, South Carolina.
He married Jane Harrington in Perry, Alabama in 1829 and he died 1858 in Liberty, either the one in Liberty County or the Liberty in Newton County, both being in Alabama.
I cannot determine with certainty who were Elihu’s parents. Were they James Vance, b. 1770 in N.C., and “Betsy”, and was James the son of Samuel, b. abt. 1726, d. 1789, in Surry County, NC and was his mother Alice (Carr?) ?
I have some records of Elihu and his family in South Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and finally Texas.
Surely just one Vance descendant of Elihu or a Millican Vance must have some knowledge of this family.Just Email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll talk.I’ll send you my Gedcom file.Help grow that tree, please!!
