Mona, When you think about it, there is no way you were going to find anything looking in the records you mentioned and here's why. The death records begin at 1964 (he would have been 118 years old or older). The birth records start ay 1926 ( he would have been fathering children at 80).
Yes I think I can help you.First send an email to the Texas State Library in exactly this format: ============================================= To: email@example.com Subject:Texas Death Index Search
Pleasesearch the Texas Death Index 1903 - 1940 for Miles Nathaniel MOZLEY
(your name) (your address) (your telephone) (your email) ============================================= This search is performed by volunteers and there is no charge. If they find his name, you will get a response stating his name as it appears on the death certificate, month, day and year of death, county in which he died, and the death certificate number. You will hear from them in approximately one week.
While you are waiting for a response from TSL, check the 1870 1nd 1880 census for Dallas County and see if you can identify him. This could give you his wife and all his children.Don't expect to find this information online. You will have to go to a library because practically none of the census for Texas counties have been put on line.
If you get a positive response from TSL you can then take the information they provide and order a death certificate (seehttp:www.vitalrec.com/tx.html for instructions) which can provide parents names, parents state of birth, cemetery used, and the name and relationship of the person giving information for the death certificate.Sometimes this person may not know all the information and some of the spaces show "unknown".
This should get you started and best of luck with the search.
