Are you sure Dock was b in TX?Where was Emma Hooker born?Was it TN?Maybe they were in TN until after the Civil War, then went to TX to be with family.On one of my husband's lines a widow left TN after the war, with 2 small children, and joined her brother and his family already in TX.
Who knows, I don't think even "the Shadow do" about how some enumerators asked and wrote down information for census????Just keep plugging away, the answer has to be out there somewhere.
