Texas Reids back to AL/GA/TN & southeast
This may be premature, as I just found this forum and haven't read anything yet.
My GGGF was Jesse T. Reid, who came to Gonzales, Texas around 1865, probably from Alabama. He lost an arm in the Civil war, and fought in a TN regiment. He began ranching, registered several brands (including the "TX"), etc.
I have a great deal of information about his descendants in Texas, which I am happy to
share, but have found very little about his parents (perhaps a Hugh Reid), and anything
prior to his coming to TX. Anything that helps us trace that family of Reids prior to
about 1865 would be most appreciated.
Many thanks.
Bill Reid, Horseshoe Bay, TX
