I don't know if you live in Texas or what relation (grandson?) your ancestor might be to Charles Leuschner but you might find the following of interest. Victoria is only about 50 miles from Bay City:"The Civil War Diary of Charles A. Leuschner" edited by Charles D. Spurlin, was published by Eakin Press in 1992. The forward states that Charles August Leuschner was born on December 15, 1845, in Torgau, Prussia, to Gottlieb August and Emelie (Heller) Leuschner. He arived in Ocober 15, 1855, in Galveston, via New Orleans, with his parents and younger borther, August Frederick, after sailing from Hamburg aboard the Herschel. ... On november 8, 1870, Leuschner maried a resident of the Inez community, Sophie Elizabeth Bischoff. Eleven children were produced from this union. After his first wife died, on July, 1905, he remarried three years later to Sophie Koehler Schorlemmer, a widow sho resided in Arneckeville, Texas. There were no children from the second marriage. ...(He was very highly regarded) ... Leuschner died on January 30, 1912 ... there was a huge turnout for his funeral ...
