Are you sure he died in TX, I do not see an Ivan Osborn on the TX Dth Idx Online 1964-1998.But, there is the following:
Ivan H. Osborne, d 2 Sep 1975 Harris Co, TX.
Ivan Osborne, b 19 Sep 1911; d Aug 1975 [note different month]; last residence Houston, Harris Co, TX; SS card issued in NE.
There is a National Cemetery in Houston, and checking the Harris Co, TX GenWeb site, they have a list of those buried in that cemetery:
Ivan H. Osborne, b 19 Sep 1909; d 9 Sep 1975; PFC U.S. Army -- and it gives location of plot and burial date.I find it interesting he is listed as buried 5 Sep 1975, a few days before he died(?)I think the death date of 2 Sep 1975 from TX Dth Idx is probably correct. Also, year of birth is different, but death records are only as accurate at the knowledge of informant, so his military record is probably more accurate -- unless he lied about his age to get into the service.
You might check with the Clayton Library in Houston, it is listed on the Harris Co, TX GenWeb site, too. They have a large genealogy collection, and might have old obits. If not, they should be able to tell you where you might find one.Although, if he died in a VA Hospital and didn't have family nearby, he might not have had an obit, or it might have been very brief.
