There is an article about the James Power Bible, belonging to Mrs. Willie M. Shirley (Mrs. John A. Shirley), of Sabinal, Uvalde Co., Tx. in the newspaper, Uvalde News Leader, Uvalde, Tx., Dec. 29, 1939. It gives the dates for James Power, b. Penn. Jan. 30, 1789; son of a Revolutionary War Soldier who died in 1805. James Power's wife was Rachel Perdew, b. Feb. 11, 1790. Five children are listed in the bible: Hannah, b. Apr. 12, 1817; md. Mar. 1, 1835 to Allen Pennington. Eliza, b. Jan 12, 1819; md. Aug. 1838 to James Offield. John, b. Sept. 6, 1821, died young. Jane, b. July 21, 1823; md. Oct. 1, 1840 to Charles Haynes. James, b. Dec. 31, 1827, died young.
The article then gives a history of Charles Haynes and his descendants. The article then gives a history of how the bible got to Texas.
I have no interest in this family and only post this as a resource.
