The information I gave you was from the Soundex of the 1920 census. After 1880 they switched to the Soundex system of 'indexing' the census. The E.D. (Enumeration District) is where they were living in a specific town. The Vol just refers to the 'book' then you get the sheet (page number) and line number (where on that sheet they were). You look at the microfilm at the library (at least I do - since it is free). I'm not sure if Ancestry.com has the 1920 or Genealogy.com does. You can post on that County's GenForum page for look-ups.
