John Jasper QUINNEY's father, Ethelred William QUINNEY died in Marengo County, AL, in May of 1876.It is possible that John Jasper went home to see his father if he knew he was in poor health and may have stayed on in AL until E. W.'s estate was settled.I know that getting estates settled sometimes took years in the courts in those days. So he and the family may have been in AL in 1880. There is also a possibility that they may have been in OK because they had family there too.
I have seen QUINNEY on 1700 era census records where the Q looks like a 2 or T and on one census it was transcribed asGUINNEY for an index.
Thank you so much for your kind and prompt response.I truly appreciate your effort and look forward to anything you offer or suggest that I try to track down my kin.
