My grandmother, LENA KAYTON, used to summer in Mission Tx. Until she became to old to travel and her daughters put her in a rehab home near one daughter while she was recovering from a fall. NORMA contacted my grandmother and told her she received a phone call from a nurse who thought the daughter was a threat to her life (this has gone unsolved) Norma convinced my grandmother to move in with her and her family and they came with a U-Haul and packed all her furniture and belongings and moved her fr Minnesota to Texas where none of our family lives and can't easily check on her well being. When we had APS check on her they found her living in an unexceptable trailer next to Normas home. Norma had to move her in with them or else. I visited my grandmother last Oct for her 88th bday. While I was there SEARS called spoke with grandma, afterward she told me NORMA and MANUEL had MAXED OUT HER CREDIT CARDS buying themselves things they wanted including a riding lawnmower.IN my calls she said they kept her in bed because they were afraid of her falling ( I beleive it put her in a weakened state), disputes between Norma and grandmas daughters made her feel she couldn't speak with them since they upset her caretaker, Norma listened in to every conversation I had with grandma and I knew not to make her mad or I would be the next to be excommunicated. Grandmas caseworker with APS left and so her case was closed. Grandma died May 11, 2002, Norma didn't return my calls til May 13th and told me grandma was buried. She has given me 3 different stories of how grandma died.I have learned she wasn't buried til the 14th, I could have been there.NORMA CLEANED OUT GRANDMA'S SAVINGS, KEPT EVERYTHING (but some old photosand papers) and never sent us a will of any kind just the RECEIPT FOR CLOSING HER ACCOUNT (no doubt to be hurtful) it was perfect timing for grandmas death, I was too busy taking care of my parents and getting my daughters wedding together to be able to run out there and check on her. What really happened ? But God knows your heart and there is justice one day, that will be a high price for this short life. I write this in hopes it will help anyone in search of a caretaker for their elderly family members.
