Clyde Callicott, b 1 Sep 1919; d Apr 1981; last benefit was paid Houston, Harris Co, TX; SS card issued in TN.
Callicott seems to be less common name in CA.Here is CA Birth Idx online, type in Callicott for child's last name, up will come about 9, at least 3 were born after your father's death, so they are out. Most seem to be in and around the San Francisco area. The father's name is not listed, and only the mother's maiden name is given. http://www.vitalsearch-ca.com/gen/tx/tx_/txbirths.htmhttp://www.vitalsearch-ca.com/gen/tx/tx_/txbirths.htm
Looking at CA Dth Idx online, again not many Callicotts. There are four born in TN, all born in the 1880s.Maybe some kind of kin to your father(?)Just type in surname of Callicott. http://vitals.rootsweb.com/ca/death/search.cgihttp://vitals.rootsweb.com/ca/death/search.cgi
If your father's first wife did not marry, there is a woman who was born about the time of your father, and could be tha first wife.
Mary Kathryn Callicott, b 1920 AR, d 1981 in Orange Co, CA.
Notice the patterns for some of these people:
Clark C. Callicott, b 1885 TN Cecil Clark Callicott, b 1919 NM Chris Clark Callicott, b 1947 CA
I'm willing to bet this is three generations of the same family that left TN, stopped in NM and made it to CA.Maybe you will recognize family names of those who were born in TN.
Your father does not show up on TX Dth Idx Online, so assume he died elsewhere.Since last benefit was paid inHouston, assume your mother was alive and living in Houston at that time.Clyde's death certificate should show the names of his parents, including his mother's maiden name, but only if your mother knew that information (assuming she was the informant). But, he filled out his own application for a Soc Sec card and that should show thenames of his parents, too.
