Garland News, February 26, 1937, p.1 COYLE - Funeral services for Henderson B. Coyle, 79, native of Dallas county, well-known horticulturist and landowner, who died at his home here Wednesday afternoon, will be held at the Garland Christian Church Thursday at 3 p.m. with the pastor, the Rev. C.D. Poston, officiating, assisted by Dr. Charles A. Chasteen of Dallas. Interment will follow at Mills Cemetery with the Masons in charge of the services ices. // Mr. Coyle was born at Rowlett, the son of Henderson Coyle, who came to Texas from Carroll County, Arkansas, settling with the Peters Colony, where he took claim to 320 acres of land. After his father's death he continued to farm until 1894, when he moved to Garland. He was married to Nancy M. Mills Dec. 1, 1878. to this union were born three daughters, Mrs. LouVelia Halsell, who with her daughter, Tommie, drowned in Rowlett Creek May 29, 1918; Mrs. Earl Harris of Dallas and Mrs. L.G. Shipley of Rowlett who survive him as well as his wife and four grandchildren. Madeline and June Day, Nancy Jon Harris and Linda Therman. // The whole community mourns the death of this loveable old gentleman whose cheery disposition has brought smiles to those he came into contact with as he made his visits to town as often as he was able. He was a lover of the beautiful and enjoyed his garden and those of his neighbors during these last few years. He was a member of the Garland Christmas Church and the Masonic Lodge. // Active pallbearers will be Horace James, Guy Bullock, Paul Lander, Harry Alexander, A.R. Davis, W.C. Kingsley and New McFarland. Honorary pallbearers will be C.L. Elkins, Chas. Newman, Irl Buchanan, C.M. Brown, H.G. Bailey, G.L. Davis and J.P. Moss.
