Lucy, this is follow-up to my 1st reply to your message.
James Schoolfield was husband of Ruth Davis daughter of Lyddia Jane Mills and Ben Titus Davis.Lyddia Jane Mills was daughter of Edward C. Mills and his 1st wife Sarah Hunter.
Ben Titus Davis filed a supporting affidavit with the Bureau of Indian Affairs at Ft. Smith, AR that he had known James Riley Sturdivant, the first husband Martha Divers; and that he knew that James R. Sturdivant was part Cherokee Indian. He stated he first visited Julia Ann Sturdivant, dau of Martha Divers and James Riley Sturdivant, within hours of her birth.Apparently it was through the friendship with Ben T. Davis that the widowed Martha Divers Sturdivant met Edward C. Mills. It is possible that Ben T. Davis was an extended cousin to James Riley Sturdivant.I have no proof of that but it is an angle that I'm working on.
Charles Frederick Jacobs married Seripta M. Mills, daughter of Ed Mills and Martha Divers,on 8-26-1853 in Collin Co., TX.C. F. and Seripta are buried in the Oakwood Cemetery, Comanche Co., TX.
Like you I haven't figure out how the Collum family fits into the frame work of the familes of Ed Mills and Martha Divers, but with continued effort the pieces should eventually all come together.
I look forward to hearing from you again.Every bit of information helps.
