Obit in Madill Register, Madill OK Mrs Lucy Payne Dies in Lawton Monday Evening(1-12-1950) Mrs. Lucy Ivy Payne died Monday evening in a Lawton hospital.She had been ill for several months, but had been able to leave the hospital to spend Christmas with her children.She has been a resident of Marshall county since 1910, living at Aylesworth for many years She moved to Madill several years ago and made her home here until she became ill a few months ago.Mrs. Payne was born in Hunt County Texas Sept. 7, 1885. She was married to Charles D. Payne December 21, 1902.Mr. Payne died in 1919.She had been a member of the Baptist church since she was a young girl.Funeral services were held in the First Baptist church in Madill at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon.The Rev. Bert Cherry was assisted in conducting the services by John W. Pigg. minister of the Church of Christ here.Two numbers, "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" were sung by the church choir.Pupils from Mrs. Clyde Bleason's room at Camrose school, attended the funeral in a body.Mrs. Gleason is a daughter of Mrs.. Payne.Burial was in the Woodberry Forest cemetery with Watts Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.Mrs. Payne is survived by four sons, Oney, Stillwater; Jay Principal of school at Kingston; Charles D., Lawton and Aldine Fredrick; four daughters, Mrs. L.A. Robertson and Mrs. Gleason, Madill; Mrs Ed English, DeKalb Texas and Mrs Winston Everett, Ardmore.Other survivorsare two brothers Frank Brown, Canton, Texas and Bart Brown, Los Angeles, Calif., one sister Mrs. Nezzie Woodson, Alba Texas and a half-sister, Mrs. Ferral Simmons, Reed Oklahoma.21 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.Pallbearers were Charles Strother, Earl Stephenson, Webster Nicholas, Harmon Spicer, Ralph Hollingsworth, Oscar Young, Joe Leeper, Lee Mscasland and Robert Cooper.
