Hi Noel.First I went to the GNIS site. For Feature I typed in just Authon, and of course clicked on drop down option for TX, I don't fill in all those other boxes. In Parker Co, TX there is a cemetery by that name and a "populated place."Click on one, up comes info, scroll down and click on Show Feature Location.A map of the U.S. will come up, scroll down and you'll see map of the local area. This will give an idea of general location.
Now, go to the Parker Co, TX GenWeb site.Click on cemeteries.Go down to Authon Cemetery. It gives you the name of the road where it is located, plus a map.If that's not enough there is a volunteer listed who will do lookups for that cemetery. The local society has published 4 volumes on their cemeteries, so maybe the volunteer can verify whether your person is buried there.Keep in mind volunteers may be a bit busy this time of year, so be patient.
If you haven't used GenWeb sites, you've been missing out.My two favorites for research are GenForum and GenWeb.GenWeb sites are manned by volunteers so they do vary in content, but Parker Co, TX is one of the "good" ones.(^_^)
