Well, I think this spam blocking is getting out of hand. Those of us using AOL cannot receive reply response notifications from Genealogy.com/GenForum, and haven't received them since the first of December.I have to check TX GenForum every day to see what might be there for me.But, even though I don't need it, I still receive offers for V----a, if I spelled it out GenForum would block this message.LOL
If you go to the maintenance forum you will see long threads of back and forth sharing on what we can do, can't do, have tried etc.I still receive response notifications from Rootsweb Message Boards, and they are all owned by the same outfit, now. They use different systems, but since Ancestry/Rootsweb can figure out how to get past AOL's complex blocking system, why can't they do that for Genealogy.com?Or is Genealogy.com just a stepchild??The other day Ancestry, Rootsweb and MyFamily were all down for maintenance, but not Genealogy.com -- and I think it needs some kind of maintenance to get our response replies through to us AOLers.
I got fed up with Techie in India trying to tell me what to do.I asked for and got someone in AOL's Community Action Team -- he did have an accent, but it was because he lives in NC. He told me AOL positively would not be blocking MyFamily (which bought Genealogy.com) because they were working together on a promotion.Well, so much for that.Left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing, I guess.
One researcher gave me the link to look at AOL's email guide, I past it along to Genealogy.com and didn't even get the usual meaningless reply from "Mark."
I emailed Postmaster at AOL, and never heard back from them, either. Here I thought I was being sooooo helpful.Guess no one wants to mess with Rambo.
