I think I found your Ada Perkins in the 1920 census:
1920 U.S. Census • West Virginia • Kanawha • Charleston • ED# 114Page 6A Dwelling 140/Family 151 W.S. Brown, head, (owned home, mortgaged), male, white, 33, married, he and parents b WV, furniture salesman Ada E., wife, white, 30, married, she and parents b WV Elizabeth, daughter, white, 7, b WV ??, son, white, 5, b WV Ada Perkins, boarder, white, 18, single, reads, writes, she and parents b WV
I checked the 1930 census to see if I could find John Perkins from West Virginia living in Texas.Unfortunately, the only John or J. Perkinses who were listed as born in WV all lived in WV or Ohio.
I would recommend trying to narrow down your dates using census records, tax records, and deeds. Those can help you find out when John and Effie moved, and possibly help trace their movements.Census records may also help you find out other family members.
