No "1929" census, so I went looking to see if you meant 1920.Some of the ages you gave don't match with census record.I tried three sources and cannot find a Ragan in TX, there is a Reagan Co, but the three men you gave were not in that county in 1920.When you refer to "Ragan" do you mean Falls Co, TX?I found Robert B. 53, Charley 45, and Will R 57, in Falls Co, TX 1920 census.
Here is a Jones family in MS that rather "fits" your family. If Charley in TX is the brother of your Robert, he lists father b TN, mother b MS, and that fits.Robert shows both parents b MS.But, we know how many times census records are wrong.Anyway, if Charley and Robert are brothers, one of the statements is incorrect.

I notice your Robert names children Maud, Richard and Lee.If this is your Jones family, here they are in 1870.There is a brother named William, but older then the one in Falls Co, TX, 1920 census.

Scott Co, MS GenWeb site has an index of the 1850 census and there is a James D. Jones 20, and Mary E.Jones 18, listed with same page number. You might want to check out the 1850 census see what Jones family lives near them, they probably just got married. Also, check marriage records for the county.
I would look for county histories, too.Since he was a probate clerk, and they twice had school techers living with them, I would think they are at the very least "semi" prominent, and probably at least mentioned in county history.
I would put out queries on this family, see if anyone knows more about them, and if your Robert is the same one in that family.
Happy Hunting (^_^)
