I would check out land records, see if your Emma shows up as an heir to this Gustav.
In 1930 Gustav is a widower living with dau Bertha and son-in-law, still a carpenter.
If Gus pans out, be sure to check the Lee Co, TX GenWeb site.Among other things there is an August and Anna Lehmann, b 1823 and 1845, buried there, maybe parents of Gus.Gus would have been about 12 when he came to U.S., so probably came with parents.
