Since you know when he died, do you know where he died?I don't see a Thomas Jeffer Henson on the TX Dth Idx, nor do I find a match on the Soc Sec Dth Idx, either. What is your source for those dates? Is it a reliable source?
Did he stay in TX?In other words would he be on a census record in TX?Name is fairly common and there are some close matches on a few censuses, but age not an exact match, so if I knew his wife's name, or some of his children and when some of them were born, and where, if you know that, too.(^_^)
Here's an example.Paris is in Lamar Co, TX.
1900 census Lamar Co, TX:
Henson, Charles, h, b Nov 1854, 45, M 22 yrs, b GA, NC, NC
" Thomas J., s, b Jun 1884, 16, b TN, GA, AL
" Hugh L., s, b May 1886, 14, b TN
" Charles D., s, b Oct 1888, 12, b TN
" Sarah E., d, b Jan 1889, 11, b TN
" Nancy M., d, b Apr 1891, 9, b TN
Now, since Charles appears to be a widower, it looks like he didn't have exact information on his children.Charles D. is shown born Oct 1888, his age should be 11, as he hasn't had a birthday yet that year.I think he probably was 12 and born in 1887, that would fit in there. And, this looks like Charles in 1880, but son Thomas J. is already born.
1880 census Wayne Co, TN:
Category: Name;Relationship to head of household; Marital Status; Gender; Race; Age; Birthplace; Occupation; Father's Birthplace; Mother's Birthplace.

William M. HENSONSonSMaleW1TNGAAL
Thomas J. HENSONSonSMaleW5MTNGAAL
Now, this may not be your Thomas Jefferson, I don't have enough to go looking for him any further, too common without some additional info.
Happy Hunting (^_^)
