Yes,the first wife of Moses K. Turner was Mary Jane Beavers, born 15 July 1859 in Texas. Her parents were Rufus N. Beavers and Louisa (unknown)who both died before the 1880 census.
Rufus and Louisa had 4 children, Mary Jane, Lucinda, born about 1864 in Houston County, TX. married Newt (?) Boren;Ella, born 18 June 1865 in Houston County, TX married a Mr. Durham and had at least 4 children.Ella died 1938 and is buried in Old Prospect Cemetery in Mt. Enterprise, TX; and Edward Newton Beavers, born 1871 died Jan 1962 Houston, Harris Co., Tx.Edward married Lula Mae Patton May 1910 in Baylor Co., TXShe died June 1972 in Nacogdoches Co., TX.They had at least 10 children.
Mary Jane Beavers and Moses K. Turner married Aug 1877 in Trinity County TX and had several sons. Newton, Zib and John Wesley named in the estate papers filed in 1910 in Trinity County.Mary Jane died 22 July 1891 and is buried in New Church Cemetery, 4 miles north of Apple Springs, Trinity Co., TX.We theorize that Mary Jane died with the birth of John Wesley who is shown to have been born in July 1891
Marriage records for Moses K. Turner and Mary Ann Chandler show that they married the same day the license was issued (20 February 1894) Their first children, twins, Ella and Della Turner are shown to have been born 1892, so maybe that is the reason Mary Ann says they were married 23 years in 1910! They had 10 children, with a son, John J. Turner being born Jan 1900 and dying Feb 1900 and buried in Bennett Cemetery Trinity Co.
The 1910 census shows Mary Ann as a widow, Ella (shown as 18 years old) who married a Mr. Thompson is shown as a widow and that the baby she had has died; Della is also shown as a widow of a Willie Fairchild, however her son (Thomas W. Fairchild) is shown as living.
Because of a marriage record in Trinity Co., we think Ella (Thompson) later married a cousin, Thomas Theadore Turner 19 February 1911 and that she died after the birth of a son, Thomas Edward Turner(or they could have divorced).Thomas T. Turner did remarry to Jenny Jo Lee (Crawford)in 1936 - no known children.
All of the above information has been pretty much documented from records in Trinity County and a direct descendant of Edward Newton Beavers as well as direct Turner descendants.
We are seeking any help on the Turner line.Four direct descendants of the father of Moses K. Turner (Samuel Turner and Emily Midkiff were his parents) have been searching over 15 years and cannot get Samuel out of Texas who came in 1837.Any help is greatly appreciated.
