Seeking more detailed information on George Washington Hale who resided in once was Hale, Caddo, LA, but now is Hosston, Caddo, LA. The Hale Family, as I understand it from the grandson, James Albert Hale Jr, and also my wife's grandmother's brother, came from England to New York State. They were prominent men and women with excellent reputations and great knowledge and outstanding spirit of comaraderie. In 1985, Uncle Jim, his sisters, Tessie, and Dessie, attended a Hale Family ReUnion hosted by Frances Dodson Sherard, his niece, and told these stories. According to Uncle Jim, George Washington Hale came south into Tennessee, possibly Alabama, and then to Northwestern Louisiana and settled in Caddo Parish. George Washington Hale has a prominent headstone in Hosston. His forbears stated G W Hale was born in TN in 1813. This is where the story stops. He married Elizabeth Carter who is buried beside him, and his offspring still inhabit the cities of Hosston, Mira, Vivian, Oil City, Ida, Rhodessa, and in the cities of East Texas as well. James Albert Hale Sr, Uncle Jim's father, is said to be descended from G W Hale. However, I am having difficulties tracing that direct route. I recently learned that G W Hale's wife, Elizabeth Carter, remarried, and among her children, there is an Albert Hale. So any assistance in this research would be greatly appreciated.
